Criteria Used To Determine Placement

Technique:  We look to see if the movement is executed properly.  We would rather see a clean double pirouette than a messy triple.  Examples of other things to keep in mind: Pointed toes, straight knees, pull all the way up in releve for turns, don’t sickle your feet.

Skills:  Individual skills that a student can properly do, for example:  splits, leaps, pirouettes, fouettes, walkovers, back-handsprings, etc.

Quality of Movement:  This is based on how the student moves.  Some choreography may be soft and flowing, while other choreography may be sharp.  This also includes entertainment value.

Attitude:  BBDC promotes a happy and healthy attitude.  The attitude of students and parents will be taken into account when determining placement.

Attendance:  BBDC has an attendance policy that all students must sign at the beginning of the year and unexcused absences will be taken into account.
